Abstract

The type locality of Liolaemus rosenmanni is corrected, a high Andean lizard from the Atacama Region, northern Chile, which was originally given at less than 2,000 m asl, in “Pastos Largos, Chimberos”. A mistake, originated by a name coincidence regarding the place-name “Chimberos”. The true locality is located more than 3,500 m in the high mountain range, in the area of a mine of the same name, located between the Pedernales and Maricunga salt flats, Atacama Region. In addition, new data on the type specimens is provided, and the records and geographical distribution of the species are reviewed. Its southern distribution limit is established in the Los Helados valley sector, Tierra Amarilla commune, about 140 km southeast of the city of Copiapó.
